Hiring Cafe review and eight alternatives for 2026

Hiring Cafe is a free job search engine that pulls postings from employer career pages and filters out agencies. We opened it on 15 October 2026 with no account, went through every filter, read its About, FAQ and Talent Network pages and Reddit posts from accounts whose names match its co-founders, then compared eight alternatives on where their postings come from, how old those postings are by default, and what they do once you have found the job.

What is the best Hiring Cafe alternative in 2026?

Lumyhired ranks first: it builds one feed from Indeed, LinkedIn and Glassdoor and employer career sites on Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable and Workday, among other sources, Hiring Cafe included, hides postings older than 3 days by default, then tailors your resume to each posting, checks it for ATS parsing and tracks the application. It is paid (from €5 a week) and Hiring Cafe is free. Pick Jobright for a US product closest to Hiring Cafe, and Google Jobs for a wide free search that includes employer sites.

Lumyhired publishes this page, ranks itself first, and counts Hiring Cafe among its own job sources. Pages cited were read on 15 and 16 October 2026. Published 15 October 2026.

What is Hiring Cafe, and where do its jobs come from?

Hiring Cafe is a job search engine that reads employer career pages directly. Its About page says it collects jobs from company websites in real time and filters out external recruiting agencies and fake consulting firms. A panel on the home page, titled “HiringCafe vs Others”, gives the mechanics: it scrapes millions of jobs from company websites daily, fetches them 3x a day, filters out reposts, and uses ChatGPT's API to pull the details behind its filters, such as salary and years of experience. A fine-tuned model screens out ghost jobs, scams and offshore consulting shops.

Two Reddit accounts have described the same pipeline. In August 2025, a reply signed u/alimir1, whose name matches co-founder Ali Mir, said a script crawled 110,000 company websites three times a day, and that employers cannot post jobs manually, which keeps listings “way more legit”. In a September 2026 post, u/hamed_n, who says in the thread that he built Hiring Cafe with Ali Mir, put the inventory at 5.9 million jobs, over 220,000 of them remote, and replied to a commenter that he scrapes every site 5 times a day. The home page meta description says “over 5 million open jobs”. Those figures are the company's own and we could not check them independently; the crawl frequency differs between the site (3 times) and the Reddit reply (5 times).

Two smaller facts are worth knowing. The old address, hiring.cafe, now answers with a permanent redirect to hiringcafe.com. And the company, operated by SPICYHR INC., lists its two co-founders, a Stanford computer science PhD formerly at Airbnb and Snapchat and an engineer formerly at Meta, DoorDash and Rippling, with an office in Cupertino.

Horizontal bar chart of open jobs on Hiring Cafe on 15 October 2026, in thousands: Texas 355, California 345, Florida 236, New York 203, Pennsylvania 159, and France as a whole 138.
Source: hiringcafe.com Browse jobs page for the US states, as rounded by the site, and the home page opened from France for the French total (138,110 jobs from 6,649 companies), read 15 October 2026. Hiring Cafe does not say whether a remote job open to several states is counted in each. Original chart.

Hiring Cafe works in France: opened from there, the home page switched to “Latest jobs, France” and listed postings in French, from a CDI at a retail chain to a Lyon engineering role. But the whole of France carried fewer listings than Pennsylvania alone. The two counts come from different pages of the site: the French total from the home page, the Pennsylvania figure from the Browse jobs page. The browse pages, city lists and state pages are all built around the US.

What Hiring Cafe does well, and where it falls short

It is a very good search engine, given away free. We went through the filter panel on 15 October 2026 with no account. It holds 22 filter groups: date posted, apply process, exclude jobs, activity and outcomes, departments, job titles and keywords, experience, commitment, salary, benefits and perks, education, licences and certifications, security clearance, languages, encouraged to apply, shifts and schedules, travel requirement, company, industry, stage and funding, size and founding year.

  • Apply Process separates simple forms, which need no account creation and little resume formatting, from time-consuming ones. LinkedIn's Easy Apply filter is the nearest equivalent elsewhere.
  • Degen Mode, under Exclude Jobs, shows you the jobs the system filtered out: suspected ghost jobs, scams, staffing agencies and offshore consulting shops. How to spot the ones a filter misses is covered in our guide to ghost jobs.
  • Activity and Outcomes filters by how many views, applications and saves a job has, and by reported interviews and offers. These need a free account; the outcome filters need the Talent Network.
  • Saving and tracking are free. You can save jobs and searches, organise roles into boards and hide companies, and the tracker page says it is “100% free, forever”.
Two panels. Covered, free: search across employer career pages with no account, 22 filter groups, agencies and suspected ghost jobs filtered out, saved jobs, boards and a tracker, Talent Agent and Talent Network once you join. Left to you: narrowing the 3-month default date window, rewriting your resume for each posting, checking the file reads cleanly in an ATS, filling in each employer's form, roles posted only on job boards.
Source: Hiring Cafe home page, filter panel, About page and FAQ, Talent Network and Tracker pages, read 15 October 2026 with no account. Original diagram.

The limits sit on the right of that figure. The Date Posted filter opens on 3 months, sorted by relevance, so the first screen mixes this morning's postings with ones from the summer. Nothing on the site rewrites your resume for a posting or checks that your file parses. And because the inventory comes from career pages, with no manual employer posting, a role advertised only on a job board is outside it by design. That is our reading of the company's description; Hiring Cafe does not say so itself.

Users have raised other points, quoted here as opinions with their date. In an October 2025 thread on r/hiringcafe, a user reported not receiving job alert emails after enabling the beta feature, noted that most job links came from Workday, and asked for more Greenhouse, Lever and Ashby coverage; a second user said a hidden job could not be unhidden. These may have been fixed since. In the September 2026 thread, a commenter who tracked school district sites by hand said Hiring Cafe showed jobs that did not appear in other aggregators.

Is Hiring Cafe legit and safe to use?

Yes. The checkable parts hold up. The operating company is named (SPICYHR INC.), the founders are named with their backgrounds, and the About page states that the company is BBB accredited with an A+ rating. Search works without an account, and every listing sends you to the employer's own application page. The FAQ answers the question head on: the product is free, “there must be a catch, right? There isn't”.

Safe is a separate question, and the company's answer is a modest one. Its Trust and Safety page tells you to confirm the role, employer, pay and application destination before applying, and to be wary of any request for payment, gift cards, banking credentials or identity documents before a real hiring process has started. Its ghost-job model reduces that risk; Degen Mode lets you see what it removed. Treat a Hiring Cafe listing like any other: open the employer's site and check the job is there.

On reputation, the About page points to a Reddit community it puts at 100K+ members, and the company's launch posts on r/ChatGPT and r/recruitinghell. The September 2026 thread on r/ChatGPT has many replies from people saying they found work through it. A launch thread posted by u/hamed_n is not an independent sample, so read those replies as testimonials.

How much does Hiring Cafe cost, and who pays for it?

Nothing, for job seekers. The FAQ says you can search, filter, save searches and build boards without paying, and the Talent Network page says membership “costs nothing, ever”. There is no paid tier for candidates on any page we opened.

Three things on its own pages show where the revenue comes from.

  • Employers pay for the Talent Network. You submit a resume, companies pay to search the network and send intro requests, and your identity stays hidden until you accept one. Joining also opens the Talent Agent, which searches and filters jobs for you.
  • Sponsored jobs. The Talent Network page lists “Hide sponsored jobs” as a member benefit, which tells you some listings are paid placements.
  • Advertising consent. Opened from France, the home page asked consent to share device data with 210 partners for personalised advertising and measurement. We declined, and the search worked the same.

How did we rank the Hiring Cafe alternatives?

On what each vendor publishes on its own pages, read on 15 October 2026. We did not run a timed test of which tool surfaces a given posting first, so no claim here is about measured speed. Five criteria, in falling order of weight:

Five numbered cards: 1 postings close to the source, career sites or ATS; 2 fresh by default, default posting age; 3 covers the steps after the search, resume, ATS check, tracking; 4 price you can read before signing up; 5 works where you apply, US, UK, France.
The five criteria behind the ranking, heaviest first. Original diagram.
  1. Postings close to the source. Hiring Cafe's main strength is that it reads career pages. An alternative should either do the same or reach employers' own systems.
  2. Fresh by default. What you see when you open the search, before touching a filter.
  3. Covers the steps after the search. Tailoring the resume, checking it parses, tracking the application. Hiring Cafe stops at the tracker.
  4. A price you can read. Stated on a public page, before an account.
  5. Works where you apply. The US, the UK and France, for the readers of this page.

Hiring Cafe itself would score well on the first and fourth criteria. It is reviewed above and left out of the numbered list, which is a list of alternatives to it.

How do Hiring Cafe and its alternatives compare?

Hiring Cafe and eight alternatives. “Default age” is the posting age a new search shows before you touch a filter, as stated on the vendor's own page; “Not stated” means no page we read gives it. Features and prices read on 15 October 2026, in the currency published. Prices change; check before paying.

Only three tools in the table publish a default: Hiring Cafe at 3 months, LinkedIn at any time, and the ranked #1 tool at 3 days. The others may well show fresh postings first, and their pages simply do not say. Google comes at freshness from the other end: it requires a posting date in the markup and treats an expired posting left online as a policy breach.

The 8 best Hiring Cafe alternatives in 2026

Ranked on the five criteria above. Each card gives one best use, what the tool does well, what to know before you rely on it, and the prices read on 15 October 2026 (Jobright's dated figure on 16 October).

  1. 1. Lumyhired

Best for: Fresh postings from employer career sites and the big boards in one feed, plus the resume, ATS check and tracking that come after

Price: No free plan. Weekly plans €5 (Starter), €8 (Pro) and €13 (Hunt), cancel anytime, 3-day money-back guarantee. Hiring Cafe is free.

    What it does well

    • One feed built from Indeed, LinkedIn and Glassdoor, employer career sites on Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable and Workday, France Travail and Welcome to the Jungle, among other sources. Hiring Cafe itself is one of those other sources, which you should know before reading this ranking.
    • Postings older than 3 days are hidden by default. A switch shows them when you want the wider list, and anything you saved stays visible. Hiring Cafe opens on a 3-month window.
    • Each posting gets a match score against your profile, and you can filter by contract type (permanent, fixed-term, freelance, apprenticeship, internship), with internships and apprenticeships off by default.
    • You upload one master resume and it is tailored to each posting: keywords from the ad and a layout an applicant tracking system can read. An ATS check runs on the result before you send it.
    • A kanban tracker keeps each application with interview reminders and AI interview preparation. The free ATS preview at /ats-preview runs with no account.

    Worth knowing

    • It is paid and Hiring Cafe is free. If all you need is a cleaner search, Hiring Cafe costs nothing and does that well.
    • A newer, smaller brand than anything else in this list, with far fewer third-party reviews to read before you decide.
    • Its career-site coverage is a set list of employer boards (about 96 company boards per pass on Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby and Workable), far smaller than Hiring Cafe's crawl.
    • No auto-apply, no browser extension and no mobile app. It is built for a few considered applications a day; for hundreds, an auto-apply tool fits better.
  2. 2. Jobright

Best for: The closest US product to Hiring Cafe, with matching and resume tools attached

Price: Free with daily limits on heavier features such as resume tailoring, plus a paid option for unlimited use. The paid price shows only after signup and jobright.ai/pricing returned 404 on 15 October 2026. Jobright's own blog post of 18 June 2025 put Premium plans at $30 a month; no current price is published.

    What it does well

    • Same sourcing idea as Hiring Cafe. Its FAQ says listings “primarily come from the career sites of hundreds of thousands of companies”, topped up with postings from major job platforms.
    • Goes further than search: the home page lists matched jobs, autofilled applications, a tailored resume and recommended insider connections.
    • Says it screens new postings and removes fake listings, and shows a running count it puts at 8,000,000+ total jobs and 400,000+ new today.

    Worth knowing

    • Its FAQ says the primary service is within the United States.
    • The headline claims (3,000,000 users, 3x interviews) are self-published with no method or date.
    • Its own Hiring Cafe review on its blog ends by recommending Jobright, so read that page as marketing. Our separate comparison of Jobright alternatives goes further.

  3. 3. Google Jobs

Best for: A free, very wide net that includes employer sites, in the US, the UK and France

Price: Free. It is a feature of Google Search, with no account needed.

    What it does well

    • Employers and job sites that add JobPosting markup to their pages become eligible, so many career-site postings appear next to board listings.
    • Google's rules are strict on age: datePosted is required, and an expired posting must be removed, marked with a past validThrough date, or return a 404, or the site risks a manual action.
    • Available across North America, Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa, and in named countries elsewhere, France, Germany and the United Kingdom among them.

    Worth knowing

    • A posting appears only if the employer or a job site published the markup, so coverage depends on other people's pages.
    • No saved boards, tracker or resume step. You click through to the employer or the job site to apply.

  4. 4. MyGreenhouse Jobs

Best for: Searching postings straight from employers' own applicant tracking system

Price: No candidate price is shown anywhere we looked. Sign-in by emailed security code. Launched: Greenhouse's product page, dated August 2025, presents it as a new hub where job seekers find roles from Greenhouse employers, though the help article's title still reads “Coming soon”.

    What it does well

    • The postings are the employers' own Greenhouse job boards.
    • Greenhouse describes MyGreenhouse as a central portal that helps candidates manage their job search, so applications made there stay in one place.

    Worth knowing

    • Only participating Greenhouse customers appear. Employers switch it on for the whole organisation or board by board, so many Greenhouse employers may be missing.
    • Nothing from employers on Lever, Ashby, Workday or any other system.
    • You need an account to use it.

    Source: https://www.greenhouse.com/product-features/mygreenhouse-jobs

  5. 5. LinkedIn Jobs

Best for: Easy Apply and seeing who works at the company

Price: Free to search and apply. Premium Career is offered with a free trial, and its price sits behind a sign-in, so no figure could be read on 15 October 2026.

    What it does well

    • A Date posted filter for the last 24 hours, the past week or the past month.
    • An Easy Apply filter for jobs you can apply to directly on LinkedIn.
    • The people side: recruiters and employees are on the same site as the posting.

    Worth knowing

    • Results default to any time, per LinkedIn's help page, so you have to set the date filter on every search.
    • A search renders up to 1,000 results by default, so a broad title search in a large city shows only part of the market until you narrow it.

    Source: https://www.linkedin.com/help/linkedin/answer/154

  6. 6. Indeed

Best for: Volume, including roles that never reach a careers page

Price: Free to search and apply.

    What it does well

    • Carries roles an employer posts only on Indeed, which a crawler reading careers pages would miss.
    • A Date posted filter on the results page, among others.

    Worth knowing

    • Indeed's help page says filters vary by location and search, and it does not list the date options, so check what your country site offers.
    • Nothing on the help page sets a default posting age.

    Source: https://www.indeed.com/help/job-seekers/articles/204488950-improving-your-job-searches-tips-and-help?hl=en&co=US

  7. 7. Welcome to the Jungle (formerly Otta)

Best for: Startup and tech roles in the UK and Europe, with salary and company context

Price: No candidate price is shown on the page and we found no paid candidate plan.

    What it does well

    • On its UK site, which otta.com redirects to, says it lists over 3,500 companies and 70,000+ live jobs, chosen by the site.
    • Gives diversity, salary and review information, plus the site's own take on every company.
    • Covers London, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Dublin and Paris, plus remote roles.

    Worth knowing

    • A curated set, so far smaller than Hiring Cafe's inventory.
    • The “No outdated jobs, duplicates” promise comes with no stated method.

    Source: https://uk.welcometothejungle.com/

  8. 8. Wellfound

Best for: Startup roles with salary and equity shown up front

    Price: Free sign-up for candidates.

    What it does well

    • Says you can apply directly to founders and hiring managers at 27,000+ startups.
    • Example listings on the home page show a salary range and equity on the card.

    Worth knowing

    • Startups only.
    • The home page now leads with paid recruiting products for employers.

Why does the default posting age matter so much?

Because a default is what you actually search with. Take a data analyst in Lyon who opens Hiring Cafe on a Monday and types her job title. The first screen is sorted by relevance across 3 months of postings. A strong match from late July sits next to one from Friday, and the card shows its age in small type in the corner. Unless she opens the filter and picks 3 days or 1 week, she spends the morning on roles that have been open for weeks.

Hiring Cafe gives her the tools to fix that, and they are good ones. The Date Posted filter runs from Past 24 hours to 3 years, takes a custom range, and has a “skip what you've seen” row (2 to 3 days ago, 4 to 7 days ago and so on) for return visits. LinkedIn offers the last 24 hours, the past week or the past month, from a default of any time. Indeed has a Date posted filter whose options its help page does not list.

The difference between tools is which way round they start. Starting wide suits someone browsing a market to see what exists. Starting narrow suits someone applying every day, who wants this week's postings and nothing else unless they ask. Which one you are decides most of the choice below. The question of which postings deserve an application at all, fresh or not, is covered in how to target the right jobs.

What does Hiring Cafe leave you to do after you find a job?

Three steps. Hiring Cafe ends at the employer's application page, and its tracker keeps a list of what you saved and applied to.

  • Tailoring the resume to the posting. The words in the ad, in the order the employer cares about, without inventing anything. The method is in how to tailor a resume to a job description.
  • Checking the file reads cleanly. Hiring Cafe's Apply Process filter labels forms that need account creation or resume formatting as time-consuming: those are applicant tracking systems that parse your resume into fields. Whether your file survives that parsing is worth checking once before you send twenty. The free ATS preview shows what a parser extracts, in your browser, with no account.
  • Keeping each version with its application. When a recruiter calls three weeks later, you need the exact version you sent to that employer.

If most of your applications are for remote roles, Hiring Cafe has a remote option in its location field and, by the count of u/hamed_n on Reddit, over 220,000 remote jobs.

Which Hiring Cafe alternative should you pick?

Stay on Hiring Cafe when you want a free, very wide search, you are comfortable setting the date filter yourself, and you already handle tailoring and tracking in your own way.

Pick Lumyhired when you apply most days and want this week's postings by default, from career sites and the big boards together, with a tailored resume, an ATS check and a tracker in the same place, from €5 a week.

Pick Jobright when you are in the US and want career-site listings with matching, resume tailoring and autofill on a free tier with daily limits.

Pick Google Jobs when you want a wide free search that includes employer sites, in the US, the UK or France and do not need anything after the click.

Pick MyGreenhouse Jobs when your target employers run on Greenhouse and you want their own boards in one place.

Pick LinkedIn Jobs when Easy Apply and reaching the people who work there matter more than where the posting came from.

Pick Indeed when you need roles that never appear on a careers page. Other boards worth a look are compared in the best job boards in 2026.

Pick Welcome to the Jungle when you want startup and tech roles in London, Paris, Berlin or another European city, with salary and company context.

Pick Wellfound when you want a startup and expect to see salary and equity on the listing.

Frequently asked questions

Is Hiring Cafe legit?

Yes, by every check we could run on 15 October 2026. It is operated by SPICYHR INC., its About page names its co-founders (Hamed Nilforoshan and Ali Mir) and a Cupertino office, and it says the company is BBB accredited with an A+ rating. Every listing links out to the employer's own application page, and you can search without an account. Its own Trust and Safety page still tells you to verify the employer before sharing personal details.

Is Hiring Cafe free? How does it make money?

Free for job seekers: search, filters, saved searches, the tracker and the Talent Network cost nothing, and the Talent Network page says employers are the ones who pay. Companies pay to search that network, and some listings are sponsored, which members can hide. Opened from France, the site also asked consent to share data with 210 advertising partners.

Where does Hiring Cafe get its jobs?

From employer websites. The site says it scrapes millions of jobs directly from company websites daily, fetches them 3x a day, and uses ChatGPT's API to pull out the details behind its filters. In August 2025 a Reddit reply from u/alimir1, whose name matches co-founder Ali Mir, described a crawler covering 110,000 company websites and said employers cannot post jobs manually. In September 2026 u/hamed_n, who says he built Hiring Cafe with Ali Mir, put the inventory at 5.9 million jobs and the crawl at 5 times a day.

Hiring Cafe vs Lumyhired: which should I use?

Use Hiring Cafe if you want a free, very wide search and you are happy to tailor your resume and track applications yourself. Use Lumyhired if you want the search narrowed to postings from the last 3 days by default and the steps after it done in the same place: a resume tailored to each posting, an ATS check and a tracker, from €5 a week with a 3-day money-back guarantee. Hiring Cafe listings are one of Lumyhired's sources, so the two overlap on inventory.

Is there a free alternative to Hiring Cafe?

Several. Google Jobs is free inside Google Search and draws on employer sites that publish job markup. LinkedIn and Indeed are free to search and apply. Wellfound and Welcome to the Jungle showed no candidate price on the pages we read. Jobright is free with daily limits on resume tailoring. None of them costs less than Hiring Cafe, which is free in full.

Why does Hiring Cafe show old jobs?

Because the Date Posted filter defaults to 3 months, read on 15 October 2026. Results are sorted by relevance, so a strong match from eleven weeks ago can sit above yesterday's posting. Open the filter and pick Past 24 hours, 3 days or 1 week before you start; the panel also has a “skip what you've seen” option for return visits.

Does Hiring Cafe apply to jobs for you?

No. It sends you to the employer's own application page, and you do not need a Hiring Cafe account to apply. Its Apply Process filter lets you keep only simple forms that need no account creation and little resume formatting. No tool in this list submits applications for you either.

Is Hiring Cafe available outside the US?

Yes. Opened from France on 15 October 2026, the home page showed 138,110 jobs from 6,649 companies under “Latest jobs, France”, many of them in French. The browse pages, city lists and state counts are built around the US, where most of the inventory sits.

Where Lumyhired fits next to Hiring Cafe

Lumyhired builds one feed from Indeed, LinkedIn and Glassdoor, employer career sites on Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable and Workday, France Travail and Welcome to the Jungle, among other sources, Hiring Cafe included. Postings older than 3 days are hidden until you switch them on, and each one carries a match score. You upload one master resume; it is tailored to each posting, checked for ATS parsing, and filed in a kanban tracker with interview reminders and interview preparation. Plans are €5, €8 and €13 a week on the pricing page, with a 3-day money-back guarantee and no free plan. The ATS preview is free and needs no account; the full ATS resume checker is part of the paid plans.
