Resume Worded review and 7 alternatives in 2026

A review of Resume Worded built from its own pages, its price list and its terms of service, all read on 15 October 2026, followed by seven alternatives ranked on six stated criteria. Two findings shape the rest: the score you see first is graded against Resume Worded’s own checklist, the same for every job, and a first purchase cannot be refunded.

What is the best Resume Worded alternative in 2026?

Lumyhired ranks first for someone who used Resume Worded to target applications: it rewrites one master resume for each posting, offers a free ATS parse preview with no account, and adds the job search and tracking Resume Worded lacks, from €5 a week with a 3-day money-back guarantee. If you relied on the LinkedIn review, Jobscan (paid) or Teal (free) is the better choice. For a free tracker with a keyword check, Teal. Resume Worded itself costs $49 a month, $99 a quarter or $229 a year.

Published 15 October 2026. Lumyhired publishes this page and ranks itself first; the criteria are stated so you can reweigh them. Every price was read on the vendor’s own page that day.

What is Resume Worded, and what do you get?

Resume Worded is a feedback service for resumes and LinkedIn profiles. It scores a resume out of 100, comments on it line by line, and sells the full reports as a Pro subscription. Its homepage counts its users from 2017. On 15 October 2026 its pages described seven tools, grouped here in five:

  • Score My Resume. Upload a PDF or DOCX and get a score out of 100 with line-by-line feedback, built from what it calls the 30+ checks recruiters use. The upload box accepts English resumes only, up to 2MB.
  • Targeted Resume (called Smart Target on the homepage). Paste a job description and it returns a Relevancy Score, the keywords you match and the ones you are missing. Resume Worded says a score below 80 means important skills from the posting are absent.
  • LinkedIn Review. Feedback on the headline, About section, skills and experience bullets, with a profile score its page says is benchmarked against top profiles using proprietary algorithms.
  • AutoFix. AI rewrites of weak lines, drafted from your own experience. It asks questions when it needs a number and you approve each change before it lands.
  • Cover letters, sample lines and templates. An AI cover letter writer, a library of 250+ bullet points from real resumes, and ATS templates for Word and Google Docs.

Two things are missing from every page we read. Resume Worded does not search for jobs, and it does not track the applications you send. Both matter when choosing an alternative, because several tools below do one or both.

What does the Resume Worded score actually measure?

The headline score measures how well your resume follows Resume Worded’s own checklist. It is the same checklist for every job, so a high score says the resume is well built for any job. Fit with one posting is measured by a different tool. The vendor’s scanner page is unusually specific about what goes into it.

Four groups of checks behind the Resume Worded score: ATS parse simulation (sections, contact details, dates, tables and columns), keywords and skills (checked against 250,000+ skills and phrases), formatting traps (length, bullets, consistency, spelling, missing sections) and impact and style (numbers in bullets, verbs, passive voice, buzzwords, repetition).
Source: Resume Worded, resume scanner page, read 15 October 2026. Original diagram from the vendor's description.

The scanner runs 30+ checks on every resume, and up to around 40 for senior profiles. They fall into four groups. The ATS parse simulation reads your file the way a parser does and shows the extracted text. The keyword group checks hard skills against a database of 250,000+ skills and phrases, compares your skills section with your bullets, and looks for soft skills shown in results. The formatting group covers length, bullet count, date and tense consistency and spelling. The impact group looks for numbers in bullets, weak or repeated verbs, passive voice and filler.

On its scale, 85 or above is good and 90 or above passes every check it runs. The homepage adds that the same resume always gets the same score, which is a real strength: you can fix one bullet, upload again and see whether the number moved for the reason you expected.

Three limits follow from how it is built. First, the posting is absent from this number. A resume can score 92 and still miss the three skills a particular job asks for; that comparison is the separate Targeted Resume tool. Second, the weighting is described as matching how screeners weight things, and the weights themselves are unpublished, so the score cannot be reproduced outside the tool. Third, its own FAQ says scores from different checkers use different scales and should only be compared within the same tool.

The claim attached to the number needs the same care. The homepage says resumes scoring 90+ get up to 3x more interviews. The page gives no study, sample size or date for that figure.

Is Resume Worded free? The free plan versus Pro

Resume Worded is free to start, with an account, and the full reports are paid. On its Pro page on 15 October 2026 there were three plans, each with “Cancel anytime” underneath:

  • Monthly: $49 a month.
  • Quarterly: $33 a month, billed as $99 every 3 months, labelled most popular.
  • One Year: $19 a month, billed as one payment of $229. Twelve months at $19 comes to $228, so the monthly figure is rounded down. The terms of service describe this plan as a one-time option, and the monthly and quarterly plans as subscriptions that bill until you cancel.
Two panels. Free, with an account: a score out of 100 and part of the report, unlimited re-uploads, a free tier on every tool including Targeted Resume and LinkedIn Review, a subset of sample lines. Pro only: full Score My Resume report with line-by-line analysis, full Targeted Resume and LinkedIn Review reports, AI writer and rewrites, recruiter insights, ATS templates and all sample lines.
Source: Resume Worded Pro page and terms of service, read 15 October 2026. We did not open an account, so the free side is as the vendor describes it.

The comparison table on the Pro page marks ten items as Pro only, including the full Score My Resume report, the line-by-line analysis, the full Targeted Resume and LinkedIn reports, the AI writer and the templates. The terms of service describe the free side as a subset of the resume lines, a subset of the analysis, and a free tier on every tool. The homepage adds that re-uploads are free and unlimited.

The pages do not agree on where the line sits. The Targeted Resume page ends its pitch with “And it’s all for free”, while the Pro table lists the full Targeted Resume report as Pro only. The scanner page says you get “several free uploads” and, a few paragraphs later, that you can scan as many times as you like. Every tool asks you to create a free account before the first result. We did not create one, so we cannot tell you exactly how much of each report the free tier shows; the terms say it is enough to judge the product.

Can you get a refund from Resume Worded?

Not on your first purchase. Resume Worded’s terms of service, last updated 10 October 2026, state that it is “unable to provide refunds to new users who purchase for the first time.” The reason given is that the free tier lets you inspect the product before paying, and that its AI costs money to run.

  • Forgotten renewals: an existing Pro member must write within 48 hours of the billing date. If the service has not been used since the charge, the terms allow a voucher, a credit or a partial refund, case by case. After 48 hours, no refund.
  • Who handles payment: Paddle is the merchant of record and handles returns. Resume Worded asks you to use its refund form before disputing a charge with your card issuer.
  • Cancelling: you cancel in your account portal, and the terms say confirming the cancellation is your responsibility.

Public reviews show both sides of this policy. On Trustpilot, a one-star review dated 12 October 2026 says a refund was refused after a subscription was cancelled within an hour of purchase. Several five-star reviews from July to September 2026 describe quick refunds after a forgotten renewal. These are individual accounts and they say nothing about how often either happens.

Among the alternatives, the refund terms we found on 15 October 2026 were: Rezi, 30 days on Pro and Lifetime; Kickresume, 14 days; Lumyhired, 3 days; Jobscan, a 7-day free trial on the quarterly plan; Enhancv, a refund only when something on its side goes wrong. SkillSyncer’s pricing page states no refund terms. If you are going to buy Resume Worded, use the free tier until you are sure, then pick the plan length you will actually use.

Is Resume Worded legit? What it does well, and where it falls short

Resume Worded is a legitimate product with a long record and broadly positive public reviews. On 15 October 2026 its Trustpilot profile, claimed in January 2021, showed 3,006 reviews and a TrustScore of 4.8, and the company replies to reviews.

What it does well

  • Feedback pinned to the line. Each flag sits on the bullet it belongs to, with the reason named, so you know what to fix and where.
  • A stable score. The same file gets the same score, which makes progress measurable from one upload to the next.
  • It shows the extracted text. The scanner’s parse simulation displays what a parser pulled from your file, sections and dates included.
  • A LinkedIn review in the same account. Two alternatives in this list offer one: Jobscan on its paid plans, and Teal free through its Chrome extension.
  • Rewrites you approve. AutoFix asks for the missing number and waits for your approval on each change, which keeps invented achievements off the page.

Where it falls short

  • Outcome claims with no method. “Land 5x more interviews”, “up to 3x more interviews” at 90+, LinkedIn profiles that “generate 5x more opportunities”, “98 percent of applicants are rejected based on their resumes alone” and “95% of all recruiters” use LinkedIn. None of these figures cites a source on the page where it appears.
  • User counts that disagree. The homepage says over 5 million job seekers since 2017. The scanner and Targeted Resume pages say over one million professionals. The scanner FAQ says over 10 million job seekers. The LinkedIn page says over 50,000 people. Its rating badge says 4.9 from 1,000+ reviews; Trustpilot showed 4.8 from 3,006 the same day.
  • A contradiction on rejection. The Targeted Resume page says a resume missing critical keywords “will be instantly rejected”. Its own scanner FAQ answers the question “Do ATS automatically reject resumes?” with “Rarely in the way people imagine.” Greenhouse’s help page describes auto-rejection as triggered by a candidate’s answer to a screening question the employer set up. Greenhouse’s help page matches the FAQ’s version.
  • English only, and no job search or tracking. The upload accepts English resumes, and the product ends when the document is ready.
  • No refund on a first purchase, covered in the previous section.

Which part of Resume Worded are you replacing?

Start from the tool you used most, because each one has a different best replacement. This map pairs each Resume Worded feature with the alternatives below that cover it, using what each vendor states on its own pages.

If you usedIt doesClosest replacements

The last row is the gap a feedback tool leaves. A feedback tool stops at the document, and the work after that (finding postings, adapting the file to each one, remembering what you sent where) happens in other tabs. How to adapt a resume to a posting by hand is in the guide to tailoring your resume to a job description.

How we ranked these Resume Worded alternatives

We did not run a scored output test, so nothing here claims that one tool’s report is more accurate than another’s. The order rests on what each vendor publishes, read on 15 October 2026, against six criteria chosen for someone leaving Resume Worded, in this order of weight:

  1. Works against a specific posting. The general score grades the document; interviews depend on fit with the job.
  2. Shows what a parser extracts before you pay. The first question about any file is whether software can read it.
  3. Price and refund terms published. Readable on a public page before an account, which matters more after reading Resume Worded’s refund clause.
  4. Free allowance stated to the unit. Scans, resumes or days, counted.
  5. Covers a step Resume Worded leaves out. Job search, tracking, or both.
  6. Replaces the LinkedIn review. Weighted last because only two tools here do.

Lumyhired publishes this page. It meets criteria 1, 2, 3 and 5, offers only the free preview on criterion 4, and fails 6; Rezi and Kickresume have longer refund windows. Weigh the LinkedIn criterion higher and Jobscan or Teal moves to the top. The wider scanner market, beyond people leaving Resume Worded, is compared in the best ATS resume tools for 2026.

  1. 1. Lumyhired

Best for: Tailoring each application to the posting, with the job search and the tracking in the same account

Replaces: Targeted Resume and AutoFix, plus the job search and tracker Resume Worded does not have.

Price on 15 October 2026: No free plan. Weekly plans €5 (Starter, which includes 6 CV adaptations and 5 ATS audits a week), €8 (Pro) and €13 (Hunt), 3-day money-back guarantee. The ATS preview is free with no account.

    What it does well

    • Works from the posting every time. You upload one master resume and it is rewritten for each job you pick, keywords and ATS-readable layout included, which is the job Targeted Resume and AutoFix split between two screens.
    • The ATS preview is free, needs no account and runs in your browser, so the file is never uploaded. It shows the text a parser extracts from your resume.
    • Finds the jobs too: one feed aggregated from Indeed, LinkedIn and Glassdoor, from employer career sites on Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable and Workday, and from France Travail and Welcome to the Jungle, among other sources. Each job carries a match score, and offers older than 3 days are hidden by default.
    • Tracks every application on a kanban board with interview reminders and interview preparation, so the tailored version stays next to the job it was written for.
    • Prices and the refund window are on a public page before you sign up, and the 3-day money-back guarantee covers a first purchase, which Resume Worded's terms exclude.

    Worth knowing

    • No LinkedIn profile review. If that was the part of Resume Worded you used most, Jobscan or Teal is the closer swap.
    • No free plan. The free part is the ATS preview; the full checker against a posting is on the paid plans.
    • A newer and smaller brand than Resume Worded, with far less third-party review coverage to read before deciding. It is built for well-aimed applications and does not auto-apply, so it is the wrong tool for sending hundreds a day.
  2. 2. Jobscan

Best for: The closest full replacement, LinkedIn review included

Replaces: Targeted Resume and the LinkedIn review, in one subscription.

Price on 15 October 2026: Free $0 forever: 5 resume scans a month, 5 ATS and recruiter findings, job tracker, resume builder. Quarterly $89.95 every 3 months, shown as $29.98 a month, with a 7-day free trial. Monthly $49.95.

    What it does well

    • The match report against a posting is the core of the product, with unlimited scans and keyword comparisons on the paid plans.
    • The paid plans include a LinkedIn Optimizer, a direct replacement for Resume Worded's LinkedIn review (Teal's free one needs its Chrome extension) (on the quarterly plan it starts after the trial).
    • The free tier gives 5 scans a month at $0 forever, plus a job tracker, enough to second-opinion your most important applications.

    Worth knowing

    • At $49.95 a month it costs more than Resume Worded's $49, and its quarterly price of $89.95 saves only about $9 against Resume Worded's $99.
    • Five free scans a month runs out in the first week if you apply most days.
    • The quarterly trial bills $89.95 for the next quarter when the 7 days end, unless you cancel before.

  3. 3. Teal

Best for: A free tracker with a keyword check against each posting

Replaces: A lighter Targeted Resume and the LinkedIn review, plus the tracker Resume Worded does not have.

Price on 15 October 2026: Free forever: unlimited resumes, unlimited job tracking, 10 templates, top 5 keywords per posting, Basic analysis, 10 AI bullet credits, 2 summary credits, 2 cover letter credits. Teal+ $13 every 7 days, $29 every 30 days or $79 every 90 days. The pricing page mentions no Teal+ trial, and refunds only within each plan's eligibility period.

    What it does well

    • Unlimited resume versions and unlimited tracked jobs on the free plan. Resume Worded has no job tracking on any plan.
    • Attach a posting and it highlights the keywords next to your resume. Teal+ shows all of them and adds a match score.
    • A free LinkedIn Profile Review runs through its Chrome extension: open your profile and it suggests changes section by section.

    Worth knowing

    • Free keyword matching stops at the top 5 per posting and the analysis is labelled Basic.
    • No job search of its own, and the LinkedIn review only works with the Chrome extension installed.
    • Paying $13 every 7 days is the most expensive way to buy Teal+; the 90-day plan works out at about half that per week.

  4. 4. SkillSyncer

Best for: The cheapest per-posting match scan

Replaces: Targeted Resume, almost like for like.

Price on 15 October 2026: Free forever: 1 resume, 2 job match scans a week, 10 AI credits a week, PDF export. Premium $14.95 a month, or $11.62 a month billed $34.86 quarterly.

    What it does well

    • Paste a posting, get a match score and the missing keywords: the same shape of answer as Targeted Resume.
    • $34.86 a quarter is about a third of Resume Worded's $99 quarter, the lowest three-month price in this list.
    • Premium marks the exact words to change in place and scores the match live as you type.

    Worth knowing

    • Two free scans a week is tight for anyone applying daily.
    • DOCX export and live scoring are Premium only.
    • No LinkedIn review, and we found no refund terms on its pricing page.

  5. 5. Rezi

Best for: A general resume score inside the builder, or paying once

Replaces: Score My Resume and the templates, in the editor.

Price on 15 October 2026: Free: 1 resume, 1 AI interview, 3 PDF downloads, limited Rezi Score and keyword targeting. Pro $29 a month. Lifetime $149 once. 30-day money-back guarantee on Pro and Lifetime.

    What it does well

    • The Rezi Score grades a resume on 23 stated metrics, the closest thing here to Score My Resume, and you fix issues in the same editor.
    • The $149 Lifetime plan never renews, which removes the forgotten-renewal problem entirely.
    • A 30-day money-back guarantee, the longest refund window in this list.

    Worth knowing

    • The free tier is 1 resume and 3 PDF downloads, about one application's worth.
    • Full keyword targeting and the full score are Pro features.
    • No LinkedIn review on the pricing page.

  6. 6. Enhancv

Best for: A designed resume with one-click tailoring to a pasted job ad

Replaces: The templates and a version of Targeted Resume.

Price on 15 October 2026: Free plan valid for 7 days, 12 section items maximum, Enhancv branding. Pro €29 a month, €59 every 3 months (€19.67 a month) or €99 every 6 months (€16.50 a month), displayed in euros to us; the page title quotes $16.50.

    What it does well

    • Paste the job ad into the builder and it shows what to add, which covers the Targeted Resume use inside the document you edit.
    • Pro includes an ATS check, real-time content suggestions and up to 300 resumes and cover letters.
    • The 6-month plan suits a search that runs past one quarter.

    Worth knowing

    • The free plan lasts 7 days and carries Enhancv branding.
    • The pricing FAQ offers a refund only when something on Enhancv's side breaks or goes wrong.
    • Pro costs €29 a month unless you commit to 3 or 6 months up front.

    Source: https://enhancv.com/pricing/

  7. 7. Kickresume

Best for: The lowest yearly price, and free for students

Replaces: The templates and the AI writer.

    Price on 15 October 2026: Free: 4 resume templates, 4 cover letter templates, 20,000 pre-written phrases, unlimited downloads. Premium €24 a month, €54 every 3 months (€18 a month) or €96 a year (€8 a month), 14-day money-back guarantee, displayed in euros to us.

    What it does well

    • €96 a year is the cheapest full year of any paid plan here, well under Resume Worded's $229.
    • Premium is free for students who can show ISIC, ITIC or UNiDAYS status.
    • Unlimited downloads on the free plan, and a 14-day money-back guarantee on every paid plan.

    Worth knowing

    • The ATS Resume Checker and the AI writer are Premium features.
    • No LinkedIn review, no job search and no tracker on the pricing page.
    • The €8 monthly rate means paying €96 for the year up front.

What does a three-month search cost on each tool?

Between $35 and $99, depending on the tool, if you buy the cheapest route that covers about three months. Resume Worded’s own quarterly plan, at $99, is the most expensive of the eight. A three-month window is a fair basis, since Resume Worded’s Pro page itself says job searches last 3 to 6 months.

Horizontal bar chart of the cheapest paid route covering about three months, in US dollars: Resume Worded quarterly $99, Jobscan quarterly $90, Rezi Pro three months $87, Teal+ 90 days $79, Lumyhired Starter 13 weeks $73, Enhancv Pro quarterly $66, Kickresume quarterly $61, SkillSyncer quarterly $35.
Vendor pricing pages read 15 October 2026. Euro prices (Lumyhired, Enhancv, Kickresume) converted at the ECB reference rate of 1.1208 dollars per euro on 15 October 2026, rounded to the dollar. Original chart.

The exact figures: Resume Worded $99.00 a quarter, Jobscan $89.95, Rezi Pro $87.00 for three months at $29, Teal+ $79.00 for 90 days, Lumyhired Starter €65 for 13 weeks at €5 (about $72.85), Enhancv €59 a quarter (about $66.13), Kickresume €54 a quarter (about $60.52) and SkillSyncer $34.86 a quarter. The Lumyhired Starter figure buys 6 CV adaptations and 5 ATS audits a week, so 13 weeks covers up to 78 tailored applications; more than that needs the Pro plan at €8 a week.

Two other ways to read the same numbers. On Resume Worded, three monthly payments cost $147, so the quarterly plan saves $48 if you are sure you will need three months; the $229 year costs less than quarterly billing only if the search runs past six months. And four tools in this chart have a free tier that costs nothing at all: Teal, Jobscan, SkillSyncer and Kickresume.

Which Resume Worded alternative should you pick?

Pick Lumyhired when you want each application rewritten for its posting, with the jobs found and tracked in the same place, and can do without a LinkedIn review. Start with the free ATS preview.

Pick Jobscan when you want the LinkedIn review and a match report against each posting in one plan, with a free allowance of 5 scans a month.

Pick Teal when you want a free tracker with unlimited resume versions and a free LinkedIn review, and are happy with the top 5 keywords per posting.

Pick SkillSyncer when Targeted Resume was the only tool you opened and you want it for about a third of the price.

Pick Rezi when you liked Score My Resume’s general score and want it inside a builder, or want to pay once with Lifetime.

Pick Enhancv when design matters to you and you want tailoring inside the editor, knowing the free plan lasts 7 days.

Pick Kickresume when you want the lowest yearly price or you are a student who qualifies for free Premium.

Stay on Resume Worded when the line-by-line critique and the LinkedIn review are what you need, your resumes are in English, and the free tier has already shown you the reports are worth $99 a quarter.

If you are also weighing Jobscan against its own rivals, that switch has its own comparison in the Jobscan alternatives for 2026, with Jobscan’s plans read the same way.

Frequently asked questions

Is Resume Worded legit?

Yes. It is a real, paid product that has operated since 2017 by its own account, payments go through Paddle as merchant of record, and its Trustpilot profile showed 3,006 reviews and a TrustScore of 4.8 on 15 October 2026. Two things are worth knowing before you pay: its headline claims (5x more interviews, 3x for a score of 90+) are published with no method or sample, and its terms refuse refunds to first-time buyers.

Is Resume Worded worth it?

It is worth it if you want line-by-line writing feedback and a LinkedIn review in one account, and you will use it over a full quarter. It is weaker value if you mainly want to match your resume to postings, since its general score is graded against its own checklist and the posting report is a separate tool. Use the free tier fully before paying, because the first purchase is not refundable under its terms.

Is Resume Worded free?

Partly. A free account gets a score out of 100, part of each report and unlimited re-uploads, according to its homepage and terms. The full Score My Resume report, the line-by-line analysis, the full Targeted Resume and LinkedIn reports, the AI writer and the templates are marked Pro on its comparison table, read on 15 October 2026. An account is required even for the free scan.

How much does Resume Worded cost in 2026?

On its Pro page, read 15 October 2026: $49 a month, $33 a month billed as $99 every 3 months, or $19 a month billed as one payment of $229 for a year. Note that 12 months at $19 is $228, so the per-month figure is rounded. The terms describe the monthly and quarterly plans as subscriptions that renew until you cancel, and the yearly plan as a one-time option.

Does Resume Worded give refunds?

Not on a first purchase. Its terms of service, last updated 10 October 2026, say it is unable to provide refunds to new users who purchase for the first time, because the free tier lets you inspect the product. Existing members who forget to cancel must ask within 48 hours of the billing date and, if they have not used the service since, may get a voucher, credit or partial refund.

Resume Worded vs Lumyhired: which should you use?

Resume Worded if you want a writing critique of your resume and a LinkedIn profile review, which Lumyhired does not do. Lumyhired if your goal is tailoring each application to a specific posting, finding the postings and tracking them in one place. Its ATS preview is free with no account; paid plans start at €5 a week with a 3-day money-back guarantee and no free plan.

Is there a free Resume Worded alternative?

Yes, with limits, all read on 15 October 2026. Teal is free forever with unlimited resumes, unlimited tracking and the top 5 keywords per posting. Jobscan gives 5 scans a month. SkillSyncer gives 2 job match scans a week. Kickresume gives 4 templates and unlimited downloads. Rezi gives 1 resume and 3 PDF downloads.

What is a good Resume Worded score?

On its own scale, 85 or above is good and 90 or above passes every check it runs, according to its resume scanner page. The score is built from 30+ checks in four groups (parsing, keywords and skills, formatting, impact and style) and is the same for every job. For fit with a specific posting, the relevant number is the Targeted Resume Relevancy Score, where Resume Worded says below 80 means important skills are missing.

Check your resume against the job, starting free

Run your file through the free ATS preview, which needs no account and never uploads the file, and read the text a parser extracts. If that looks right, Lumyhired rewrites your master resume for each posting you pick, checks it with the ATS resume checker, and keeps every version on a tracker beside the job it was written for.
